Associated Terminals is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone with one of its esteemed team members, Jeremy Mooney, as he marks his 20th work anniversary with the company. With three decades of experience in the stevedoring industry, Jeremy’s journey exemplifies dedication, perseverance, and continuous growth.
Jeremy’s career began in 1994 with Ryan Walsh Stevedoring, fresh out of high school, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to the industry. Transitioning to Associated Terminals two decades ago was a pivotal moment, signaling the beginning of a transformative journey that would see Jeremy ascend through various roles including crane operator, eventually culminating in his current position as a Crane Manager.
As Crane Manager, Jeremy Mooney handles the complex logistics of the supply chain, tracks and documents operational events, collaborates with third-party contractors, and bears the primary responsibility for managing and supporting crane operators and other employees.
Reflecting on his tenure, Jeremy emphasizes the evolution of Associated Terminals from a modest operation to a powerhouse in the industry, always prioritizing its people. “There was never a stagnant moment,” Jeremy remarks, underscoring the company’s commitment to progress and opportunity.
“Things have continued to evolve for the greater good of the company, allowing myself and others to move up in the ranks. Being selected into management roles over the past 15 years have been important milestones for me as I felt trusted with vital responsibilities that keep this company moving daily,” said Jeremy.
Throughout his tenure, Jeremy acknowledges the invaluable guidance of mentors who shaped his professional journey. From Brian Deslatte to Jason Perez, each mentor imparted essential lessons in balance, knowledge, and commitment, essential ingredients for success in his role.
Navigating the evolving landscape of the industry presented its challenges, particularly the integration of technology. Jeremy recalls the transition from hands-on tasks to embracing technology and delegation—an adjustment that ultimately enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
Jeremy finds immense value in his role as Crane Manager through the rich interactions he shares with diverse personalities within the company. His favorite part of his job includes the opportunity to connect with individuals on a personal level, learning to empathize with their needs and provide support both within and outside of the workplace. These interactions have been invaluable in shaping his understanding of human dynamics and have contributed significantly to his ongoing personal and professional growth journey.
Offering advice to new hires, Jeremy emphasizes the significance of perseverance, education, and a positive attitude. “Stay the course, continue to educate yourself and maintain positivity regarding your goals,” he advises, highlighting Associated Terminals’ culture of recognizing the efforts of committed team members helping them pave a path for growth.
Beyond the workplace, Jeremey is all about New Orleans, as he was born and raised here, explaining he loves everything from the sports to the night life. He also has generated his own startup 8 years ago called “Surface Pro Powerwash,” which is a commercial power washing business. Overall, Jeremy is someone who values bridging connections with others everywhere he goes and maintaining personal growth in and out of the workplace. Another fun fact about Jeremy is that his pet dog is named Clyde, named after the first live boom cranes he started his career on!
