As we commemorate National Philanthropy Day on November 15, we are thrilled to spotlight a significant and enduring facet of our corporate culture at Associated Terminals – our unwavering commitment to giving back. For the past 23 years, Digging for Kids, a charitable initiative created by our dedicated team members, has been at the forefront of our mission to provide assistance to those in need. 

In 1997, compassion was embedded into our company values as Associated Terminals team members came together to establish Associated Efforts. Their vision was clear: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and organizations facing challenging times. With a focus on spreading joy during the holiday season, one of the standout accomplishments of this initiative has been the annual tradition of providing Christmas presents for children and families who are less fortunate. 

The chief source of funds for Associated Efforts has been our beloved “Digging for Kids” event. During this event, every team member is given the opportunity to contribute a portion of their earnings generated during a one to three-hour period to support this noble cause. In addition to the generous contributions from our team members, all cranes join the effort by donating revenues earned for unloading cargo during the same time frame. 

Over the past two decades, Associated Efforts has extended its reach, providing gifts for over 6,500 children in need across Southeast Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama, and Galveston, Texas. This kind-hearted tradition has touched the lives of many, brightening the holidays for those who need it most. 

This year’s “Digging for Kids” event took place on November 17, 2023. Our goal was to raise $20,000, and with your support we had the ability to aid over 300 children. The impact of our collective efforts knows no bounds, and every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to making a meaningful difference. 

The accomplishments of Associated Efforts to date are a testament to the power of collective compassion and our commitment to corporate citizenship. As we reflect on our journey, we are profoundly proud of what we have achieved and eagerly anticipate continuing this tradition in the years to come. 

National Philanthropy Day serves as a reminder of the positive impact we can have on the world when we come together with a shared purpose.
