Associated Terminals Signs 5-Year Agreement at Port Manchac
Associated Terminals signed a five-year agreement to be the primary tenant and operator at Port Manchac.
The port offers transportation flexibility for all carriers. It is strategically located next to Interstate 55, which easily feeds onto Interstates 10, 12 and 59. Two rail spurs, plus 4,000 feet of storage track, are ideal for bulk, break-bulk and general cargo transfers. Plus, the facility’s three docks can handle bulk and break-bulk cargo and are accessible by barge via the Industrial Canal and Lake Pontchartrain.
The facility also features two 30,000 square-foot warehouses, one of which is brand new. “The existing facilities and the transportation options that are there give us a greater ability to offer complete services to customers handling all types of cargoes,” Associated Terminals President David Fennelly said.
Associated Terminals signed the operating agreement with the South Tangipahoa Port Commission. Executive Port Director Chad Falgout said he is “very impressed with Associated Terminals’ professionalism, customer focus and safety-first operation.” Falgout said Associated Terminals is “a great partner” and “a very well-managed company, which is evident in all aspects of their business.”
“We look forward to a long-term beneficial relationship with the commission,” Fennelly added.
The primary products moving through Port Manchac are break-bulk cargoes such as wood and steel products, bulk cargoes and liquid cargoes transferred from rail to truck. Many customers and vendors also have shown tremendous interest in moving container traffic through the facility.
Phillip Wright will manage the Port Manchac facility.
